Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura)

The Turkey Vulture is pretty common throughout Costa Rica; it can be seen soaring high in the sky, either alone or in groups that can go to the hundreds. They like to perch in trees under the bright, hot sun, and waiting for warm air currents to be strong enough to lift them effortlessly into the air.
