Barred Hawk (Morphmarchus princeps)

The Barred Hawk is a pretty big rapacious bird. I saw this individual in Rio Celeste, during a Birdwatching tour led by experts from the Fundación Rapaces de Costa Rica. We looked for the bird for about 30 minutes without success, after one of the guys reported seeing it on the stairs to the waterfall. I gave up my hopes and went up to photograph a toucan that other people had seen, and then I was told that the Hawk made its appearance. The bird (presumably the male) flew from one side of the river to the other, and perched on a nearby tree. I got a few pictures before it flew to the nest.
