Violet-headed Hummingbird (Klais guimeti)

The Violet-headed Hummingbird has, not surprisingly, a violet head with a white postocular spot that should render it unmistakable. If the violet iridescence is not seen, it may look like a dull green and gray hummingbird, however with the iridescence it transforms in a great looking bird.

The following picture was taken on July 22nd, 2017 during a Birdwatching Trip at El Copal with Asociación Ornitológica de Costa Rica.

The Violet-headed Hummingbird is a gorgeous bird. This male was just resting on a “Cola de Gato” twig
