Slaty-tailed Trogon (Trogon massena)

The Slaty-tailed Trogon is probably the bird that resembles the most the Resplendent Quetzal. The male has green body and back, with black face and orange bill and eye ring. The belly is red, and both the wings and the undertail look gray to black. The female is similar, but has gray head and back, does not have an eye ring, and has pale yellow bill. They like to perch close to trees with small fruits, and they usually sally from the perch, get the fruit in the air, and then return to the perch to eat it.
