Speckled Tanager (Tangara guttata)

The Speckled Tanager is among the most beautiful songbirds I have ever met. They are pretty colorful, and “Zebra” is one of their popular names, even though they don’t have strips, but their attire has a lot of contrast. My first time meeting this wonderful songbird was in Refugio Los Cusingos, Perez Zeledon during a Birdwatching trip with my friends at Fundación Rapaces de Costa Rica, on November 11th, 2017.

This Juvenile bird was calling from a perch, most probably waiting for the parents to come with food.
